A short blurb in the Columbus Dispatch raises the possibility. Here’s the part that makes this writer nervous:

“Dan Tierney, a spokesman for the Ohio attorney general, said the panel adjourned on Wednesday in Steubenville and will reconvene at a later date.

A key issue before the grand jury is whether adults who are required to report crimes knew early on about the rape last August but didn’t say anything.”

Past releases have spoken about the need for more investigation, or have given a return date. This one does neither. Instead, it sounds like a note that a deliberating jury sends out to a judge, a day or so before returning with an acquittal.

This is the sort of press release that gives people the screaming cheetah wheelies. Here’s hoping justice is done in the end, but it ain’t looking good right now.
