Check out this official statement from John Boehner’s office, in response to Obama’s upcoming executive actions on immigration reform. Tell me if they sound like somebody you’d like to work with:

Michael Steel, a spokesman for House Speaker John Boehner, said in a statement: “If ‘Emperor Obama’ ignores the American people and announces an amnesty plan that he himself has said over and over again exceeds his constitutional authority, he will cement his legacy of lawlessness and ruin the chances for congressional action on this issue and many others.”

And it’s not unique. In fact, it’s pretty typical. That is how “Republicans” talk about (and to) the President, on a regular basis. And frankly, this writer wouldn’t wouldn’t feel all warm and fuzzy about working with anyone who talked that way about him.

Insults? Check.
Lies? Check.
Professional decorum? Nowhere to be found.

If the Teapubbies really want to know why they have such an awful relationship with the Prexy, they should try this little experiment: go into a low-class dive bar (the Speaker will be quite comfortable there), find a patron, and start talking this kinda s*** to them. They could say things like “you lie!”, or “Godless Communist Kenyan illegal immigrant!”, or any number of the slurs they have hurled at Obama over the past 6+ years.

Any bets on the sorts of “relationships” the GOPee will establish? Not many productive working arrangements, no. Far more likely that fists will “meet up” with faces.

Hey, Johnnie-me-lad: try using some manners for a change.
Because, dude, you are making a deliberately obnoxious blogger cringe. That says nothing good about your individual and collective social “skills”.

Mr. Blunt and Cranky

That sounds crazy, and it is. But it is how we roll in these United States, and have done since the country started. Minorities and malcontents pay taxes like everybody else, but unlike everybody else, their tax dollars pay for the tear gas, bullets, billy clubs, tasers and other tools that are employed against them. We pay the government to shoot us, gas us, and beat us. Pretty sick, innit?

Michael Brown is but one example. He and the rest of Ferguson’s black community pay taxes, lots of taxes to the almost completely white government. And what did these citizens get in return for their hard-earned?

Michael Brown was shot at least six times, including twice in the head, when he was killed by a Ferguson, Missouri, police officer, according to a preliminary autopsy.
The results, first obtained by The New York Times, showed that Brown was shot four times in the right arm. Dr. Michael Baden, the former chief medical examiner for the City of New York who conducted the autopsy, said the bullet that caused the fatal injury struck Brown near the top of his skull and suggested he was bent forward when it hit.

Mr. Brown and his family paid for that rogue cop and the six bullets said cop pumped into him. That is beyond adding insult to injury. And the rest of that St. Louis suburb? They too are paying to be abused-or at least, those on the poor side of town are paying:

Thousands of protesters took to the streets in Ferguson on Sunday night. The situation quickly spiraled out of control when police fired tear gas into the crowd well before the midnight curfew. It’s unclear what prompted the police action.
Capturing the dramatic events for the world was Mustafa Hussein, a student who works at a local all-volunteer music station, Argus Radio. The station is using video equipment it purchased to live-stream concerts to broadcast the protests in Ferguson.
Tonight, as tens of thousands of people around the world watched, Hussein was threatened by an officer wielding a weapon. “Get the fuck out of here! You get that light off or you’re getting shot with this!,” the man shouts. That portion of the live-stream was uploaded to YouTube:

It is absolutely clear that Mr. Brown was murdered by that stinking racist pig of a cop. No doubt. And it is clear that he and his parents, and indeed the community he lived in are being abused by the government that they pay to protect them. The white people in Ferguson, MO are getting their money’s worth for the taxes they have paid.

But the black community is paying in cash so that they can be gassed, beaten and shot by those who are supposed to protect and serve them.

That, Gentle Reader, is SO f***ed.

Mr. Blunt and Cranky

They are calling it “The Devil’s Bill”, California AB number 666 (yes, that really is the number): a bill that would give robotic cameras more rights than you have. The gist: is as follows: if you get a ticket in the mail from a red-light camera, you are guilty. No appeal. No judge, no rights, no nothing. Due process? We don’t need no stinking due process.

The politicos who are pushing this travesty are claiming that it doesn’t take away your rights, nonononotatall, they are just taking a criminal violation and making it a civil one. That’s what they say, but not much of anyone believes them.

People, listen up: this is a huge f***ing deal. Machines would have more power than any human cop, judge, jury, or jailer. We can appeal convictions for crimes minor or heinous; we can even appeal murder convictions. But put a computerized ticket-making machine on a lamppost, and suddenly we lose rights guaranteed us under the Constitution. No human has the power that these corrupt swine of politicians want to hand over to machines.

It might be a coincidence that the bill is numbered as it is. Regardless, it does seem creepily appropriate.

Mr. Blunt and Cranky

Mr.  Blunt and Cranky is changing it up a bit this week: talking about stupid people instead of liars. And the stupid s***s of the week are the oh-so-trusting gay Repubs called “Log Cabin Republicans”. These deluded fools actually think that the “Republican” party will someday, somehow, perhaps with pookie magic and and witch/warlock assistance, develop a tolerance for homosexual, lesbian, transgendered,  and bisexual citizens. Indeed, they are so out of touch with reality that they are actively working to elect Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan, two people who really, really hate GLBT folk. A few samples:

“A Romney administration will protect traditional marriage and the rule of law and we will provide the Defense of Marriage Act the proper defense in the courts that it deserves.” (Paul Ryan, Focus on the Family, 10/2/12)

“The things you talk about, like traditional marriage and family and entrepreneurship, these aren’t values that are indicative to any one person or race or creed or color. These are American values, these are universal human values.” (Paul Ryan, Town Hall in Cincinnati, OH, 9/25/12)

Oh, and Romney? He spoke at the gay-hating Liberty University back in May.

Please, Log Cabin Repubs – pull your heads out of your arses and see the reality: these people will take your money and use it to take away every single civil and human right you have. And this writer will point at you and laugh when you bitch about it, because it’ll be partly your fault. Of course, he probably won’t have the opportunity: if there is any justice in this universe, the sensible, reality-based GLBT  community will rip the lot of you limb from limb for what you have helped do to them.
