Yesterday, we talked about how liberal demonstrations are ignored by the media, even if tens of thousands are present and protesting. Here is a picture of one small part of that crowd, which was NOT covered on major US “news” outlets:

Now we bring you a few photos of Right-Wingnut “events” that WERE covered by that same media. See if you can spot the difference:

Yep, if you are a Teabagger, Birtherbot, Right Wingnut or a “Republican” of any sort, then the media will show up and cover your “rally”, never mind how small or ridiculous it is. But if you are anybody else, sorry, but Bubba’s having gotten a blowjob back in the 90’s or a “celebrity” sighting is far more newsworthy than you are.

Since the right-wingnuts and Teapubs own the media, this may not be surprising. But it remains infuriating.

Mr. Blunt and Cranky

Mr. Blunt and Cranky has noticed a disturbing trend (and he expects that you have, too) in media coverage of politicians: reporters simply repeat what the politico in question says verbatim, and almost never call “bullshit” on them, either during the event or during the stories that they later write.

A classic example came a few days ago, when Mitt Romney said that no one dies in America because they lack health insurance: http://www.dispatch.com/content/stories/local/2012/10/11/health-care-called-choice.html

Lots of people (including this writer know better), and it took less than a minute to pull up a study proving the exact opposite:

http://www.reuters.com/article/2009/09/17/us-usa-healthcare-deaths-idUSTRE58G6W520090917

One person every 12 minutes croaks because they don’t have health insurance. Surely reporters have smartphones and could have found the information during a press conference, and called Mitt on his statement. But nooooooo.

The majority of reporters have become nothing more than parrots: senselessly repeating whatever they have been trained to squawk in exchange for crackers, grubs, dung beetles, or whatever tasty treat they prefer. Frankly, if that is all they are going to do for their pay, we may as well fire the lot of them. Then we could just point microphones at the crooked scumbucket politicians and stream it live. We wouldn’t be any less informed that way.

Mr. B & C

Those who know the Blunt and Cranky family are aware that Mr. Blunt and Cranky’s son died two days ago. We are in more than a bit of shock, grief and all the other emotions that one feels at such a time. The worst thing he has ever been through in his long life.

He is taking a moment from family, funeral planning and such to speak from the heart. Obamacare allowed his son to stay insured, and that (and only that) kept him alive these past 18 months. If his precious son had not had coverage, he would have died long ago. And without the Affordable Care Act, he would not have had coverage.

All the politicians, political theoreticians, academic wonks, and smug commentators can stick that in their craws and choke on it. Lives are on the line here, people. And one life was prolonged for at least a while, while the so-called conservatives advocated (and still do) a policy that would have killed that 20-year-old kid.

If you are against the affordable care act, you are for (or do not care about)  the death of your fellow American citizens. Whether you want to admit it or not, that is the way of it. Politics and parties be damned, we are talking about living, breathing people who are sick and dying so you can advocate policies that suit your selfish natures.

If you are for the ACA, then please spread this testimony far and wide.
