That’s pretty much what Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar are saying, as they dig their hole deeper and deeper via their friends in the media. They have publically stated that trans people are males with criminal records (sex offenses, of course), which just shows that Duggarland is a magical place where one can have no idea what a transgendered person is but still think they are worse than their own son Josh Duggar, who has admitted he’s a sex offender, pedophile, and incest freak. But hey, li’l Joshie didn’t know no better, and Christ has forgiven him, so stop being all mean and stuff, OK? Plus he didn’t really do anything wrong, (even though he did), because he was just a teenytiny child himself at the time (even though he was 15)…you get the picture.

It turns out that Josh Duggar committed even more sex crimes than had been previously reported, and had told his parents even more often than had been previously reported, and had done things far more disgusting than had previously reported, to more girls than had previously been reported. In short, he’s a sexual predator and child molester of the first water, and needs to be locked up posthaste and the key flushed down the commode. But the Duggars don’t want him buggered, so they kept his crimes a secret. And since he didn’t go to jail, why, he’s not a criminal, right? Unlike those ickyickyicky LGBT people (even though being LGBT is not a crime).

Since the Duggars don’t understand Gay or Transgendered persons, but do understand Josh, one could fairly assume that Jim Bob and Michelle are themselves straight white Christian child molesters who also didn’t want to be buggered Duggars and so helped cover up Joshie’s sex crimes and their own complicity in their commission.

In fact, none of this was brought to light until the statute of limitations had run out, and the truth could come to light with no chance of these three disgusting perverts getting chucked into the general population of a prison, to there enjoy the “treatment” often afforded to such swine.

Here are facts of the matter: Josh Duggar molested his own sisters and a babysitter (maybe other girls, too). His parents covered up his crime, making the three of them criminals. Criminals of the lowest and most most vile sort. Criminals that are hated even by other criminals. How DARE the Duggars Who Are Scared of Being Buggered accuse innocent LGBT Americans of being sex offenders, when they themselves are just that?

Probably because Jim Bob, Michelle, Josh, and their Pervert Posse know full well what they are, and successfully managed to avoid detection via distraction. By pointing their filthy fingers at others for long enough, they got away with the perfect crime.

This writer, having been molested himself as a youth, hopes that all three of them are somehow punished for their unspeakable, incestuous, depraved, and inhuman actions. And that soon.

Mr. Blunt and Cranky

Christ on a fruitcake, really? Yes, really. Those are the only logical meanings one can draw from their writer, one James Taranto. According to a recent editorial, if a woman has had a drink or two, she is equally “at fault” for being raped.

You see, to Mr. Taranto, rape isn’t the fault of the rapist. He compares rape to an accident involving two drunken drivers: two people committing equally criminal acts. And this shows what a misogynistic f***wit he is.

Rape is a violent crime, with a perpetrator and a victim. It is not a crime committed by two criminals (like his flawed drunken driving analogy): in the case of rape, the rapist assaults the victim, who either does not consent or is not capable of consenting. The victim is not, repeat NOT committing a criminal act. Having a drink is not a crime.

Mark this well: if someone cannot legally consent, the answer is no. That is common law, understood for business dealings, elections, and other interactions: drunk people cannot legally enter into so much as a car loan or a poker game. And if you steal a drunk’s wallet, you are still a thief. If you break into a drunk’s house and beat the s*** out of them, you are still assaulting them.

But if you rape a drunk, that is somehow different, according to this guy:

20140212-092622.jpg Apparently, he does not think sexual assault is a crime. Shoot a drunk, beat a drunk, those are crimes, but if a penis is involved in a violent crime, then it’s somehow OK, right?

Wrong. Just ask the two scumbuckets from Steubenville who are doing time for raping a drunk girl. Ask anyone busted for drugging a girl and then raping her. These. Are. Crimes. Using a penis as a weapon does not excuse the criminal. Getting her drunk first doesn’t either.

The Wall Street Journal apparently thinks otherwise. And hey, a dick wrote that editorial, and bunch of dicks decided to print it, so maybe they are all thinking with the wrong head. But only a person who thinks solely with his dick would say that rape is not a crime.

Mr. Blunt and Cranky

Along with the local cops and the university. Good thing, too:
http://gma.yahoo.com/jameis-winston-39-alleged-victim-39-absolutely-39-205809923–abc-news-topstories.html

The attorney for Jameis Winston’s alleged rape victim said she “absolutely” plans to file a civil lawsuit against the Florida State University star quarterback and the Tallahassee Police Department.

“I want heads to roll,” Pat Carroll, the attorney for the woman who claims Winston raped her in December 2012, told ABC News in an exclusive interview.

Carroll said the Tallahassee Police Department was negligent in handling her client’s case against the 20-year-old Heisman Trophy winner. He claims the way police handled the allegations led to a prosecutor’s decision to drop the case.

A very brave woman. The university and the local cops tried to stop her from reporting the rape and then dragged their feet, covered for the Heisman Rapist, and generally did their best to ensure that Justice would not be done. So she is going the civil litigation route.

It worked with another violent criminal football star and Heisman Trophy winner (OJ Simpson) after the criminal justice system failed to render justice upon him. Here’s hoping that it works here, too. Maybe then this violent criminal, and his many enablers, will get what they deserve.

Mr. Blunt and Cranky

http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/world/2013/07/05/pregnant-child-chile/2493643/ is the story of what a nation in which all abortions are illegal looks like: a pre-teen, sexually abused for two years by her mother’s boyfriend, is now pregnant as a result of rape. She is in great danger if she carries the pregnancy to term. Her fetus is also at high risk.

But she cannot have an abortion, no matter the horrific circumstances. Even though she and her baby will most likely die, the government’s complete and total abortion ban mandates that she have her rapist’s child, even if it kills her (literally).

You might say, “how horrible” or words to that effect. You might say, “those barbaric Chileans” as well. But if you voted for any Republican in recent years, then you, yes YOU, supported exactly that policy. The same one. Read their platform: http://www.gop.com/2012-republican-platform_home/

“Faithful to the ‘self-evident’ truths enshrined in the Declaration of Independence, we assert the sanctity of human life and affirm that the unborn child has a fundamental individual right to life which cannot be infringed. We support a human life amendment to the Constitution and endorse legislation to make clear that the Fourteenth Amendment’s protections apply to unborn children.”

The wording of the Republican platform essentially calls for the nullification of the U.S. Supreme Court ruling that effectively legalized a woman’s right to have an abortion, Roe v. Wade.

That is to say, the exact same law they have in Chile, where a tween rape victim is being forced by the Big Brother government to have a baby that was violently implanted into her without her consent. This, friends, is what abortion bans do: they kill people. There is nothing Pro-Life about abortion bans.

If you cast a vote for a Republican, any Republican, you have supported a policy that would force rape victims to suffer and perhaps die from bearing their rapists’ children.

Here’s hoping Hell is as bad as the Fundie preachers say it is, and that our elected “Republicans” wind up there. Because anyone who really thinks that little children should die by governmental edict, as a result of crimes committed against them, truly does deserve to burn in Hell alongside the rapists themselves. Birds of a feather.

Mr. Blunt and Cranky

This recent exchange started with this picture on Facebook:
Image
Mr. Blunt and Cranky re-posted it on his personal Facebook page, and the following exchange ensued:

(Name Removed) Since when has anyone ever asked for a background check to vote, buy a home, get a driver’s license, etc.? Is it too much to prove you are who you say you are to exercise your right to vote by showing a valid Photo ID? I don’t think so, and that’s a far cry from a background check.

To which the B & C response was: “Actually, when you register to vote, they do quite a bit of checking behind the scenes, to make sure you’re legally able to vote, aren’t voting in more than one place, and so on. Getting a  driver’s license in our state includes a check of your criminal record. And anyone who has ever bought a home knows that you have to give them a whole helluva lot more information to get a loan than you ever have to if you want to buy a gun. So I’d say these are not persuasive analogies.”

The reply? Silence.

And that’s a pretty representative example of what happens when wingnut talking points are countered immediately with facts. The wingnuts either shout you down, or shut up and go talk to somebody else. Another example:

(Name removed) As some have pointed out, when is the last time a criminal or those wanting to participate in a criminal act going to apply for a background check let alone a background mental health check?

(B & C) You’d be surprised –  the FBI intercepts quite a few. And making everyone get a background check restricts the overall gun supply for crooks and crazies, making it harder and more expensive for them to buy guns. Plus, the current system is unfair to licensed gun dealers: if you go to a gun show, they get undercut by the shadow sellers; because the legit dealers have to run background checks, and the shady characters and individuals don’t.

(Name Removed)  The FBI may intercept quite  few, however, the criminal then turns around and acquires them by another means. All the FBI did is delay the process and the crime. The outcome is still the same. Don’t you think? Thanks for the honest discourse.

(B & C) If we make it harder for crooks to buy guns, that’s a win. Most of the “other means” cost more and add risk. Right now, all a criminal or adjudicated individual has to do is walk into a gun show with cash. He or she walks out with a gun. That’s too easy. Making it harder to get the gun in the first place changes the outcome.

Again, silence ensued. Loverly.

The lesson for us all? Don’t just ignore wingnut talking points. Counter them, debate them, respond with facts. Whether or not they are persuaded, they will at least shut up. And that, friends, is a win in and of itself.

Mr. Blunt and Cranky

There is a common tactic used by extremists and jackassess of all stripes who wish to dominate public discourse: the most polite term Mr. Blunt and Cranky can use is “Chain-Yanking”. Here’s one example: when it became the law for employers to provide preventative health care (including birth control) to covered employees at no cost (or reduced cost), on Rush Limbaugh called a Congressional witness a “slut” (and worse). The actual merits of the policy were not debated, because nearly everyone (having had their chain yanked) started yelling about the pundit’s sexism blahblahblahbittyblahblah.  This suited the pundit and his cronies just fine, as they were in charge of the conversation and could subsequently control the message to suit themselves.

Mind, this writer does not support sexism in any form, at any time, in any way, shape or form. When sexism (or another ism) rears its ugly head, we should indeed whack-a-mole that head right down, and pound it down again whenever it pops up. We must, however, not lose sight of the point that is being obscured, often deliberately, by the chain-yanker du jour. And we must also call the chain-yankers out, especially when they claim that they are “just asking questions”.

Recently a number of teenaged girls were sexually assaulted in Steubenville and Torrington. The chain-yankers immediately blamed the victims under the guise of asking questions like “what was a 13-year-old girl doing hanging around 18-year-old boys anyway?”  Of course, the yankers denied blaming victims, even though it was obvious that they were doing just that. And they were called on it, to the point that the crime itself was no longer the topic of conversation – instead, everyone was talking about slut-shaming and victim-blaming. Important topics, to be sure, but regardless, we got our chains yanked and thereby sidetracked; thus taking the spotlight off of the criminals, where it belonged.

A woman was mugged, shot in the leg, and her infant murdered a few days ago. What was the first question asked? “Why didn’t she just hand over her purse?”, that was the was the first question asked.  The yanker denied victim-blaming: she was “just asking the question”. Uh-huh. Maybe she was fooling herself,  but she wasn’t fooling too  many other people with that hogwash. But again, a potentially productive conversation on social policy degenerated into a slugfest over victim-blaming.

Yesterday, this writer got his chain well and truly yanked, much to his own chagrin. A sexist comment about men was posted, and  he wound up swirling around the drain with everybody else, even to the extent of losing his temper and saying some unacceptable things. Apologies are hereby offered to everyone  who was offended  by those stupid, uncalled-for remarks.

No matter the topic or the political persuasion of the person talking, chain-yanking happens, and we can all get caught if we aren’t careful. Your humble correspondent will redouble his efforts to remain focused on important topics, and hopes all of us can just let the yankers flush themselves away, leaving the rest of America to get some s*** accomplished.

Mr. B & C

A while back, a horrible sexual assault in India shocked the world. And all across our country, people said, “I’m glad that kind of thing doesn’t happen in America”. Perhaps they blathered some sort of jingoistic, racist twaddle as they expounded on how much better we are than they are. And then, comfortable in their willful ignorance, forgot about rape.

More recently, a horrible sexual assault in Steubenville, Ohio shocked the world. And all across our country, people said, “I’m glad that kind of thing doesn’t happen in my town”. Perhaps they blathered some sort of regional, class-based, racist twaddle as they expounded on how much better we are than they are. And then, comfortable in their willful ignorance, forgot about rape. Again.

Then we heard about Torrington, CT, and the recent rapes of a 13-year-old girl by two 18-year-old football players. And let’s not forget Jerry Sandusky in State College, PA, who raped many, many young boys.  And the thousands of military women who are raped each year, around the country and the world. And so on. And on. And on. Willful ignorance is getting to be kind of difficult to maintain, innit?

Take note of the similarities in all of the cases cited:  Number A, the victim-blaming.
Letter 2, the local community trying to cover up/put spin on the crimes committed there.
Thirdly, the outside world loses its patience with the locals and shines a large, uncomfortable spotlight on all the seamy, shady, dirty little secrets of the rape-friendly place du jour.
Fourth, justice is (finally) served, to an extent at least, grudgingly, but the victims will be pariahs for life in their own communities, especially when the short attention span of the outside world  wanders off elsewhere. That, people, is not just.  But it’s as good as it gets.

And for every event that people hear about, there are thousands upon thousands that America does not hear about. Big cities, small towns, deserted prairies, places foreign and domestic, the weak are raped by the strong. Thus it is, thus it has been, and you don’t f***ing want to know, do you? So you work hard at not knowing. And the media, which exists to sell advertisements and create illusions, largely helps you remain willfully ignorant. This suits the rapists just fine. The rape victims (including your humble cranky correspondent) are left to be abused and even killed, and America can pretend it doesn’t know.

Cowards, a whole nation; nay, a whole world of cowards. So long as it isn’t their child, wife, mother, or such being raped, no one  wants to think about it. “It’s all so icky, it makes us feel gross, pleasepleaseplease stop talking about it and we can once more pretend we know nothing. Look at the pretty pictures, turn up the iPod, lalalalala, nothing to worry about, snooze…are they gone yet? Have they stopped talking yet? Whew, that’s a relief.”

Those of us who have no choice but to know about rape look at the willfully ignorant and feel many emotions: hate, rage, disgust, even envy at their enforced cluelessness.  But no one who is raped chooses to be raped, and we can’t choose to not deal with the consequences. The rape victim’s right to choose is forever ripped asunder at the time of the crime, and it can never be repaired fully. But our ability to not know? That, boyo, is gone forever, never to return.

What is different now is the Internet. What is different now are blogs and hacktivists. What is different now is a decentralized media that doesn’t march to the tune of the patriarchal pervert rape freaks that have forever dominated the world in which we live. The world is slowly becoming one with the rape victims in this respect at least: ignorance is getting scarce.

How was the Steubenville case blown open? Bloggers and Hacktivists. How is the Torrington case being slowly opened? Bloggers and Hacktivists. The raped cannot count on the figures of authority to protect them-all too often, it is just those authorities who commit or cover up the crimes, after all. The cyber-vigilantes have grown weary of waiting, and are taking matters into their own hands, as vigilantes always do.

And thank God for them. America, get ready to lose your innocence. The innocence you’ve never really had, just one you pretended to have, and the pretense is going bye-bye. No matter how you try to distract yourself, you are going to have to face reality: rape happens everywhere, every day, every hour.  Everybody loses their innocence sooner or later.

Fortunately, the vast majority of you will lose it  via the evening news, Facebook, twitter, or some sort of media. That’s a lot less painful loss of innocence than was the case for millions of rape victims. They lost theirs in an act of ultimate betrayal; violently, brutally, and in silence. A silence that almost every adult American has been complicit in creating and maintaining, by choosing to pretend they do not know.

Perhaps you deserve pity. But this writer, having dealt with the reality of rape for over 50 years now, is not the person to ask for such. Wakey-wakey, America, time to deal with it. Rape victims have lived with this harsh reality for millennia, and now it’s your turn. Like it or not, just like us.

Mr. Blunt and Cranky

A short post to update you on life in the fetid, revolting heap of rape-and-football s*** that is Steubenville. After their attempts to cover up for a load of sexual predators failed, a trial started today for two of the subhuman trolls who violated a minor in such a manner as to even shock the locals.

The defense is predictable in such a Cro-Magnon environment: they are blaming the girl.

Here’s hoping that someday the lawyers and the rapists are all treated as they have treated the victim. Because it doesn’t look like the “justice system” will provide one whole helluva lot of justice.

Mr. B & C

Believe it or not, there are lots of fundagelical nutjobs who think God wants women who are raped to be forced to have babies: even if it will kill them, maim them, cripple them for life and so on.  This is because they think that babies are pure and innocent until birth, after which moment they become miserable scumbucket sinners (really, they do believe this). So, even if a woman is raped (or a child is raped, even), it is God’s will that that sinful female be forced to give birth to that sacred child, even if she dies in the process (yes, these whackadoodles think that, too).

It is bad enough that these fringe religious cultists hold and promulgate such hateful, venom-filled views, but it gets worse: a LOT worse. The Republican Party also believes this and is busily working to make this froot-loop theology (apologies to the froot-loop cereal people) the law of the land. Note that they are not bothering with stricter laws or greater punishment for the rapists: only stomping upon the women who are the victims of these horrific crimes.

Adding insult to injury, republicans of all stripes are upping their lunacy game of late: by trying to claim that there are different types of rape, that women can magically expel rapist sperm from their wombs, by saying that rapist sperm is a gift from God, and that none of this really matters anyway, because you should be required by Sharia Christian Law to carry the rapist’s baby to term even if it kills you.

Mr. Blunt and Cranky is not making this up, nor is he exaggerating one wee bit. Click the links below:

http://firstread.nbcnews.com/_news/2012/08/19/13365269-missouri-republican-legitimate-rape-rarely-causes-pregnancy?lite

http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/belief/2012/jan/25/rick-santorum-rape-pregnancy

Republicans want to tell you, your mothers, grandmothers, sisters, cousins, wives, daughters, or any female of any age that God is OK with their being raped,  and that they are to bear the children of rapists. And they also don’t care if the woman is crippled or killed, nor will they pay a dime for her medical care. Finally, they don’t seem to be much concerned with the lousy, stinking, scumball criminal himself, since all they do is bellow like the bloated pachyderms they are about those women who are faking rape, or were asking for it, or how Original Sin makes females responsible for whatever heinous crime was committed against them.

This writer finds this to be the second craziest bunch of hogwash he has heard in many a year. In fact, there is only one thing that is crazier:

Women who know all of this and still vote for Republicans. Now, that, my friends, is barking madness of the highest order.

Mr. B & C
