Mr. Blunt and Cranky has friends who do card tricks and carnival magic, and he knows the techniques they use: misdirection, sleight of hand, and so on. He also knows that our “representatives” and “news media” do much the same whenever they want to put one over on us. So it has been with the Snowden “scandal”.

While you were all aghast and agog at the NSA/PRISM/Verizon/Greenwald imbroglio, the following events also occurred, but you probably missed them:

The Supreme Court made it easier to deny your right to vote.

The Supreme Court also took away your right to remain silent and made it easier for your boss to abuse you on the job.

In Michigan, one unelected man is about to steal the pensions and other retirement bennies from retirees, and will also steal from investors .

In Ohio, extreme anti-woman legislation is being advanced along with a tax hike on everyone but the rich, who will get a tax cut. And these are just a few of the events that were being downplayed by the media while they hyped a series of BS scandals, each of which turned out to be nothing when they were looked at closely.

Get the picture, Cranky Nation? We. Are. Being. Conned. A load of cheap carnies and tricksters are getting us to “look over there” at these successive faux scandals while they screw the lot of us with their other hands. It’s time to stop paying attention to these con jobs, at least until we know if there is any fire beneath the smoke.

ALWAYS pay attention to the man behind the curtain. He’s hiding back there for a reason, after all. And if he asks you to look at something amazing, you’d be well advised to look at anything BUT what he’s trying to distract you with.

Mr. Blunt and Cranky

Mr. Blunt and Cranky cannot believe how stupid and gullible his fellow Americans have gotten to be. Really, he should go into used car sales or something, because the lot of you have evidently lost your critical faculties of late. Let us review:

Act One: Benghazi. It was spun by the “news” media and certain politicos as a breathtaking scandal that could doom Obama’s chances of re-election, and lots of hysterical stories were written and accusations were leveled. As time passed, we learned that a lot of the initial stories were false, wrong, or at the very least inaccurate. In the end, it turned out that the cries of “Wolf” were hysterical, manipulative crap. The truth of the matter is, people had f***ed up, heads rolled and changes had to be made, but the Prexy had nothing to do with it. The media retracted very little of what they had said, and the politicos retracted nothing. So lots of stupid people STILL think there is a Benghazi scandal, even though the wolf-criers have been proven to be liars.

Act Two: the latest IRS dustup. It too was spun by the “news” media and certain politicos as a breathtaking scandal that could doom Obama’s chances of accomplishing anything in his second term, and lots of hysterical stories were written and accusations were leveled. So lots of stupid people STILL think there is an IRS scandal, even though the wolf-criers have been proven to be liars.

Act Three: The NSA Scandal. Just like before, it is being spun as the scandal of the century, hysterical bulls*** is plentiful, and people want to throw our President our of office. Never mind that the quote Journalism end quote is a load of sloppy garbage and just as in our two previous examples, falls apart like a cheap nose wipe in the rain when subjected to scrutiny.

And what are Americans doing? Do they say “Gee whiz, they cried “Wolf” before, maybe we better wait and see what the facts are”? Oh, don’t be silly. No, just like puppets on strings they are jumping up and down, getting outraged, freaking out, and acting as if this scandal du jour is somehow different than all the other times the boys in the media and Congress have cried “Wolf” in the past. Wake the f***ing f*** up, peeps: just like before, we’ll find out that people f***ed up, and heads will roll and changes will be made. But none of this means that Obama is some sort of evil Lupine creature. No matter how many times the wolf criers may call him one.

So, why for the love of GOD, do so many of you keep believing those little f***ers when they cry wolf? Really, people, you should have learned by now to wait for proof before believing the lying wolf criers.

Mr. Blunt and Cranky

Rep. Jim McDermott pointed this out in a recent Congressional IRS-bashing hearing. As he says, “None of your organizations were kept from organizing or silenced. We are talking about whether or not the American taxpayers would subsidize your work. We are talking about a tax break.

Wow. That puts the whole IRS/Tea Party scandal in a whole new perspective.

These anti-government activists were looking for government financing of their activities.

These anti-tax organizations were asking for tax money (that is what a tax break does).

These groups who hate government re-distribution of wealth were asking the government to re-distribute wealth to themselves.

Look in your dictionary under “hypocrite” and you’ll see a picture of the Tea Party if there is any justice in this universe.

Mr. Blunt and Cranky

Mr. Blunt and Cranky, like almost everyone else, gleefully piled onto the Internal Revenue Service recently. The targeting of political groups certainly seemed abusive, after all. And everybody hates the Taxman.

After subsequent revelations and upon further reflection, this writer has come to the conclusion that we all got played by a bunch of political scumbuckets. You see, it turns out that there were excellent reasons to suspect these groups of using the tax code for nefarious purposes. After all, Social Welfare Organizations are not allowed to be primarily political organizations.

Here’s a quick summary of why one might be suspicious: 432023_667625673262947_52727540_n (This from the excellent Rob Rogers. Follow his blog: http://blogs.post-gazette.com/opinion/rob-rogers-cartoons )

Also, as The Rude Pundit pointed out, having the word “party” in your name is a wee bit of an indicator of political activity.

Note to self: next time the media scrum is kicking the crap out of a football that one does not happen to like, don’t kick until you know it deserves to be kicked.

Mr. Blunt and Cranky

Yes, the idiots at the Internal Revenue Service who are responsible for this idiocy need investigated and dealt with. But trying to tie this to the Prexy is nonsense. Here’s why:

Number A: the man in charge of the IRS when the activity was actually going on was an appointee of Bush The Dumber, held over while Obama tried to get Senate “Republicans” to confirm a new guy. The Bushie quit after a stop was put to the scandal crap.

Letter 2: the Obama administration still does not have one of their appointees in charge, because the aforementioned Repubs have blocked his nominees. So we’ve never had an Obaminoid in charge of the IRS, and that is the fault of the Puerile Pachyderms.

This means, Gentle Reader, that if one wishes to blame anyone at the top, that blame must be placed upon the Teapublicans.

Here’s a buck saying they never admit it. Any takers?

Mr. Blunt and Cranky

It says something about our nation that nothing can simultaneously unite and divide us like the IRS. As you know, some idiots at that agency did some idiot s***, and their idiot bosses didn’t smack them down soon enough. So of course, everybody hates the IRS even more than they usually do. And the wingnuts already hate Obama so much, they can’t hate him any more without their heads exploding (the sensible people just shake our heads at the poor schmuck).

Using political criteria as the IRS did is despicable and anyone who did it should get de-jobbed as soon as they have been proven guilty. Targeting certain groups of people for “special treatment” is the sort of thing that was done by the Romans, Spartans and the Spanish Inquisition, to name a few examples. “Chilling effect” doesn’t even begin to cover it.

Speaking of targeting people for harassment, Congressional “Republicans” have seized upon this as Yet Another Chance To Beat On The Black President instead of doing useful work. We need a budget, laws, all sorts of tasks accomplished that only Congress can do: and they are doing none of it. Because they are spending what little time they actually spend at “work” trying to de-job Obama.

Screw anyone who is screwing We The People: especially the IRS and Congress. With the aforementioned chainsaw. And not gently.

Mr. Blunt and Cranky

The plaintiff in this week’s DOMA (“Defense Of Marriage Act”) case that hits the Supremes this Wednesday had $363,000.00  stolen from her by the government because, and only because, she was gay.  No other reason. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_v._Windsor

You see, Ms. Windsor (an early computer scientist with IBM) and her partner got married legally, and their marriage was recognized by the State of New York. But the Feds don’t recognize such unions, and after her wife died, she was obliged to fork over a third of a million dollars that she would not have had to pay had she been a straight married woman. Think of it as a “Gay Tax”.

If you are a Republican who believes in lower taxes and smaller government, you cannot also support DOMA, because it imposes unjust taxes on certain citizens, and is a result of Big Brother governmental intrusion into our private lives. If you are a Repub, therefore, and  support DOMA, you’re a hateful, hypocritical bigot,

If you are a Christian whose church has tax-empt status  and you  support DOMA, you’re a hateful, hypocritical bigot who is making someone else pay your bills for you. Look up “usury” in the Bible and see what it says.

If you are a Libertarian and  support DOMA, you’re a  hateful, hugely hypocritical bigot.

If you are black and support DOMA, you’re you’re a  hateful, hugely hypocritical bigot who has no memory of anything that happened prior to this century. Read up on the Civil RIghts struggle, slavery, and such.

No matter who you are in our country, this writer is pretty sure you don’t like the idea of Uncle Sam jacking people out of thousands of dollars. Unless, of course, they are part of a group that you don’t like, in which case you’re OK with it.

Which makes you a hateful, hypocritical bigot.

Mr. Blunt and Cranky

Mr. Blunt and Cranky has so many worthy recipients for this week’s Crown O’ Polished Turds, he may have to outsource the manufacture thereof. There are multitudes of these worthies, and it would be unfair to leave any of them out. He speaks, yea, verily he does, of the “Social Welfare Organizations” who are calling for the defeat/victory of Obama/Romney even though they are not allowed to do so.

These groups (run by Rove et.al. and funded by who-knows-whom) are running ads that are pretty damned explicit, and doing it tax-free and behind closed doors, thanks to an amazingly stupid Supreme Court ruling: they are advocating for and against the candidates, and are hiding behind laws meant to benefit charities that do, well, actual charitable works.

Your cranky neighborhood blogger is particularly hacked off about this, because he has  a friend who runs an actual non-profit organization under a 501(c) designation – his is dedicated to raising money for cancer research. These people bust a** to do something good for their fellow citizens.

Rove and his fellow loophole-enabled scumbuckets are using laws meant to encourage people to take care of one another, and using them instead to line their already corpulent pockets and steal elections. Because of their most awesome lying scumbucketry, we not only place the COPT upon their noggins, but we shall grace them with a Bucket O’ Pond Scum right before their coronation, so that the populace may better know what sorts of eminent individuals that they are dealing with.
