P***ed off yet, Gentle Reader? Wait a few, we’ve not yet begun to cite. Charter Schools, each and every one of them, are exemplars of one or more of these despicable human traits. And anyone who supports them, runs them, or sends their kids to them, is likewise possessed of such revolting Teapublican faults. Proof? Here ya go:

Discriminatory? Proven. The GAO nailed charters to a tree in their 2012 report:
image

Racist? Proven. North Carolina is one example of many showing how racists are using charters to re-segregate:

The charts also show how racial makeups have shifted over time. By 2014, a fifth of charter schools were overwhelmingly — more than 90 percent — white. In 1998, less than 10 percent of charters were that way.

Corrupt and thieving? Yep, Proven. Thieves and con artists have flocked to charters, because they are barely regulated and rarely accountable:

No sector — not local governments, school districts, court systems, public universities or hospitals — misspends tax dollars like charter schools in Ohio.

A Beacon Journal review of 4,263 audits released last year by State Auditor Dave Yost’s office indicates charter schools misspend public money nearly four times more often than any other type of taxpayer-funded agency.

Selfish? You guessed ‘er, Chester, Proven. Charters take resources away from public schools, leading to public schools doing even more with even less, while the charters waste more money and do very little for students. Those who use them are screwing their communities, selfishly

Charters are a scam, engineered by greedy Teabaggers, mountebanks, and charlatans. The reason so many public schools suck is simple: not enough people want to pay for them. You CAN’T get more than what you pay for. But lots of Americans have bought into the idiotic Post-Reagan Voodoo Economics notion that says “Money magically appears if you take it away”. So when they cut school funding and public schools got crappier as a result, they said “let’s take MORE money away and give it to these unaccountable, unqualified, crooked scumbuckets”. And the underfunded public schools got crappier still, and the cycle repeats itself ad infinitum. A self-fulfilling prophecy, created by con artists for their own malevolent purposes.

Want better schools? Pay for them. Hold EVERYONE INVOLVED accountable. Hold OURSELVES accountable. Hold POLITICIANS accountable. EVERYBODY needs to step up, not just the teachers who barely make a decent hourly wage, working in crumbling schools with no supplies; or the students trying to learn in the same underfunded environments.

And yes, hold the profiteering motherf***ers (public and private) who run charters accountable, too.

Mr. Blunt and Cranky

PS: We haven’t even talked about the illegality of using taxpayer funds to fund religious schools. That in itself is illegal, but it happens all over the nation.

Proof may be found in Indiana, where a load of “Christian” hatemongers passed a law that basically makes anyone other than straight white Fundagelicals second-class citizens. True to form, these Teabagging legislators deny that they hate gays: nononono, they are merely protecting the “religious freedom” of fellow Teavangelicals. Riiiiiiiight.

It also can be found in Ohio, where a load of “Christian” hatemongers passed a law that basically makes anyone other than fetuses second-class citizens. True to form, these Teabagging legislators deny that they hate women: nononono, they are merely protecting the “rights” of unbornTeavangelicals. The fact that they laugh at stories of rape is meaningless. Riiiiiiiight.

Proof abounds in Michigan, where a load of “Christian” hatemongers are pushing a law that basically makes anyone other than Teavangelicals second-class educators.True to form, these Teabagging legislators deny that they hate non-“Christian” teachers: nonono, they are merely going back to the “true intent of education”, which was to teach kids how to read Scripture. Riiiiiiiight.

On and on it goes: from calls for a violent “Christian uprising”, to Teavangelical racism, and pretty much every sin listed in the Ten Commandments and the Greatest Commandment. These sickos crap all over the teachings of Rebbe Yesuah bar Josef while proclaiming their loyalty to Him.

This, Gentle Reader, is why the Constitution forbids the establishment of a government-sanctioned religion. Theocracies always crash and burn, spectacularly. Because they are based on premises of faith that cannot be proven.

Instead of being wrong like the Religious Right, let’s actually try being, you know, right. Let’s try actually treating all of us as being truly equal. Like the Constitution says.

Mr. Blunt and Cranky

Both have said it straight out, Gentle Reader, so this is not Cranky hyperbole.  Let’s start with Ducky Daddy , OK? He said this to Sean Hannity just yesterday: “I’m just saying either convert them or kill them”. There’s video at the link if you don’t believe it.

ISIS, the “Too Crazy even for Al-Quaida Brigade”, kill people from other religions. And they have been doing it. Hopefully, Duckie Boy and his faux-redneck crew of TeaVangelicals aren’t doing THIS in their swamps (yet):

As previously reported, ISIS gave villagers the choice of converting to Islam or facing death. Everyone in the village, whose name is also spelled “Kocho,” chose conversion. Everyone, that is, except their sheikh.

The one man’s refusal was enough to push ISIS militants over the edge, Reuters reports. After looting the village, they loaded the men into buses and took them to the middle of the desert, where they shot them.

That, Cranky Nation, is exactly what “Christians” like Phil Robertson will do if they can take over. It’ll be “Kiss the Cross or be kissed by a sword”. Oh, and you had better be the RIGHT kind of Christian: Presbyterians are considered just as Hellbound as Moslems to crazy f***ers like the Ducksters, so this writer’s head would be rolling down the street, too. Likely yours would as well.

It’s time and past time to remind our country that we ALL have freedom of religion. Nobody should be threatened with death because of their faith. NOBODY. Nowhere. Never. Phil Robertson should take his Bin Laden Beard overseas and join ISIS. The murderous lunatic would fit right in.

Heck, he could star in the next video as he beheads a journalist. Even better propaganda value than a cowardly Brit who is too scared to take his mask off while killing bound, unarmed infidels.

Mr. Blunt and Cranky

His name is not Abdul Ibrahim, it is Andrew Scott Boguslawski. He was caught with weapons, ammo, dozens of bombs, and other tools of the terrorist trade in Ohio a few weeks ago. He looks to be an average American on the surface. The media has been pretty restrained in their reporting, treating it like a normal criminal case. No one is freaking out.

His name is not Muhammed Bin Arjara, it is Mark Kulis. He is one of those “sovereign citizen” nutbars, and was also busted for having illegal weapons and explosives. The media has been pretty restrained in their reporting, treating it like a normal criminal case. No one is freaking out.

His name is not Abou Ben Adhem, it is Chris Christie. His administration put millions of Americans at risk by shutting down part of the George Washington Bridge (a known terrorist target) on 9/11 of last year. The media has been pretty restrained in their reporting, hardly even mentioning the al-Quaida connection at all. No one is freaking out.

But just imagine the hue and cry and universal brouhaha had any of these three mutts been swarthy males with “foreign-sounding” names. The “news” media would be in 24/7 panic-inducing, fear-mongering, hair-on-fire, freakout mode. The cops would be deploying all manner of special weaponry. Americans would be told to use extra caution, to look under our beds, to be “vigilant”.

But since these are honkie dudes with “normal” names, America pretty much yawns.

Gentle Reader, this is nonsense. The skin color of someone who does you harm makes no difference whatsoever when you are lying in an ambulance or morgue. And paying undue attention to someone’s skin color or religious background when trying to decide if they are a threat makes it far more likely that somebody else you aren’t looking at will blow you to Kingdom come.

Or, of course, the whole “Global War on Terror” schtick could just be a con job, a cynical manipulation of the public so as to enrich the rich and gull the gullible; and maybe we should just calm down and treat all terrorists as common criminals, like we are those two lily-white curs in Ohio… Naah. Couldn’t be.

Mr. Blunt and Cranky

One year ago, this writer wrote a prophetic post about Hobby Lobby’s attempts to use their personal religious beliefs to screw over their employees. Here’s a brief excerpt:

However, there is a very scary paradigm emerging amongst the Religious Right. Example: Hobby Lobby tried to claim a religious exemption in order to undermine the care that their employees could get under the ACA. They said that the owners of the company had a religious objection to certain kinds of gynecological care, and so should be able to opt out of providing them to their workers.

Consider a more extreme (but highly probable) scenario: the First Church of Christ, Scientist. These people do not believe in medicine: they are faith-healers. So if your employers were Christian Scientists, they could deny you any and all health care coverage. You’d get nothing. Except, perhaps, for a bunch of nimrods praying by your bedside as you died of appendicitis.

Now they have made it to the Supreme Court,  which seems sympathetic to the religious loons’ point of view. And that means there could be a ruling that would take away employees’ rights to birth control, and any other health care offerings that your employer may object to on religious grounds.

In addition, there is a deeper matter to consider: whether your employer’s religious beliefs are allowed to control yours. You see, Hobby Lobby doesn’t believe in birth control. And if you, as an employee, DO believe in birth control, well, tough rocks pal: your religious freedom is not as important as that of your employer.

Remember Animal Farm, where everyone was equal, but some were “more equal than others”? That is what the Supreme Court is all too likely to decide. Don’t scoff, they did it before with the Citizen’s United ruling, in which they decreed that while we all have the right to freedom of speech, rich people have more free speech than do the rest of us.

We are talking about a potential assault on the very principles on which our nation was founded, and on which our Constitution was based. The idea that your boss’s religious beliefs can overrule yours is not all that different from having your government’s religious beliefs likewise trump yours. This would completely take away our constitutional freedom of religion as hitherto guaranteed under the Establishment Clause.

The Supreme Court has the power via this ruling to take away your personal religious freedom, deny you access to health care, and potentially bankrupt you by taking away that access: pushing us further towards an Orwellian dystopia, all at a single stroke.

Not scared? Then you’re an idiot.

Mr. Blunt and Cranky

And they STILL hate the United States and its taxes: http://abcnews.go.com/US/wireStory/religious-family-leaves-us-lost-sea-19926919?page=2 Yes, even though several governments (including ours) saved their stupid, sorry, incompetent a**es, they still hate the country that gave them birth.

Hannah Gastonguay and her husband decided that it would be a spiffy idea to endanger themselves and their two preschool-aged daughters by setting sail for a Polynesian island, that presumably would not spend their tax money on anything they didn’t agree with. Amazingly stupid from the beginning, and they just got dumber as time went on.

As one of the tax-funded public servants who has been caring for their idiotic selves said, “”They were looking for a kind of adventure. They wanted to live on a Polynesian island but they didn’t have sufficient expertise to navigate adequately”. They ran out of food, got lost, and were saved by sailors, ships, and helicopters, at least partly paid for by the governments of Venezuela, Japan, Chile, and the United States.

And the family’s response to this demonstration of the positive impact of government and the taxes that find them?

“Hannah Gastonguay said the family will now “go back to Arizona” and “come up with a new plan.”

Yep, they haven’t changed their minds one bit. This is what happens when religion, parenting, and sailing are done by the blind, moronic, and willfully pig-ignorant.

Mr. Blunt and Cranky

It’s not just that Reince Priebus, leader of all things “Republican” in the USA, is shamelessly using Holy Scripture for his own purpose (there’s a Shakespeare quote you might want to think about that relates to this). No, it’s that he clearly doesn’t understand the Book that he thinks he’s quoting from. And he’s not alone in this.

In an interview with CBN (link below), Mr. Priebus said the following:”“First of all, I don’t know if I’ve used the word tolerance. I don’t really care for that word myself”, and “Christians and pastors and everyone in between should agree that our principles have to be draped in the concepts of grace, love and respect and that’s not code language. That’s the New Testament…”. Let’s break this down so we can understand what he (and other “conservatives” “Christians” and “Republicans”) is saying:

He is saying that we should use Old-Testament values but make them look nicer than they are. He is saying that it is OK to hate, to discriminate, to impoverish, to kill, to starve, to disempower, and to abuse anyone who does not think and believe exactly as they do. Instead of being “tolerant” of others, he proposes using a “tolerant tone”. He proposes, therefore, deception. Lying, in other words.

Now, Mr. Blunt and Cranky is not all that zealous (Presbyterians rarely are) and does not propose to tell you what to believe, if anything. But he does take issue with lying politicians, no matter if they wrap themselves in a Flag, Scripture, or the Federalist Papers. And the New Testament does NOT say to carry on with the Old while cleverly disguising it with honeyed words. No, the New Testament affirms some parts of the Old, and clearly replaces some others (one example – turning the other cheek).

We see this quite frequently among the Fundagelical community: the selective use of Scripture coupled with willful misunderstanding of what the Prophets, Jesus, and Apostles said. And since the talking heads on TV are held up as “Christians” (and nobody wants a theological catfight), their distorted, false, and misleading views are taken as Gospel. And Gospel, they most certainly are not.

Play this fun game: Have a bible handy when you watch these “Christian Experts” on the TeeVee. Whenever one of these yahoos claims to be citing Scripture, go and try to find it. You’ll be amazed at how often there isn’t anything in the Book to support what he or she claims to be God’s word.

Example: Reince Priebus on CBN recently. He was on the Christian Broadcasting Network, for crying out loud; and either no one else knew he was wrong, or decided to keep quiet, knowing that he was full of it. If a network devoted to the New Testament doesn’t understand it or communicate it clearly, then imagine how badly other “Christian Republicans” mess tis up.

Mr. Blunt and Cranky

http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2013/07/22/gop-chairman-i-dont-really-care-for-the-word-tolerance/

Here is story of parents who have now killed two of their own children via “faith healing”. They prayed over 8-month-old Brandon instead of taking him to the doctor, and the poor little kid died.

They did this while being on probation after having done this before. Yes, they prayed another child right into the grave a few years back. They are now the murderers of two innocent children, but are not in jail.

Anybody else, anybody else, who had killed two children would be locked up. But not these two. Because why? Because God told them to do it, that’s why.

This is why we need a strong separation of church and state: so criminals can’t get away with murder by claiming a religious defense. If these two loons had been locked up for life after they killed their 2-year-old son Kent in 2009, they wouldn’t have been able to kill little Brandon last week.

It should make no difference if a parent (or anyone else) is high on Meth or high on Jesus: killing kids is killing kids.

Hopefully, this time, the “justice system” will live up to its name, and lock these two child-abusing scumbuckets up for a hundred years. Or maybe two: one for each of their victims.

Mr. Blunt and Cranky

Members of The Cranky Nation will know that certain wingnut North Carolina legislators voted for an unconstitutional state law earlier this week. That law would have made NC law supreme over Federal law, all because their precious wittle feewings got aww hurted the other day.

House Speaker Thom Tillis , who is smarter than the average nutjob, put the bill out of its misery yesterday. He has not said why he killed it, but hey, he killed it.

What he did not do was repudiate the intent behind the bill, admonish his fellow lawmakers, or stand up for the rule of law. So we are left with a load of loons in the North Carolinian State House, and they will no doubt try this crap again someday. Unless they get schooled by their constituents beforehand, which doesn’t look all that likely.

Mr. Blunt and Cranky

Yes, it’s technically nullification at this point. But it’s a step in a very dangerous direction. A load of North Carolinian legislators gave signed onto a crazy, loony, unconstitutional bill that says, in essence, “neener, neener ” to the Supremacy and Edtablishment Clauses of the Constitution. And all because they can’t evangelize during opening prayers at public meetings.

Note this well: they are allowed to have a prayer. They are just not allowed to favor one flavor of religion during that prayer. You know, that freedom of religion Thinggummie. But evidently, being required to follow the law is equivalent to tyranny in the minds of these yahoos.

A unilateral declaration that state laws are supreme over federal laws is pretty much the start of secession, never mind the word games. These people are trying to create their own version of national law, just for their little state. Declaring one state’s law to have supremacy over that of the rest of the nation is tantamount to a Declaration of Independence.

Or, put another way, secession.
