It used to take days or weeks to execute an innocent black man. Now it can be done in a few minutes.

Back in 1944, a young black male named George Stinney, Jr. was accused, tried, convicted and executed in a matter of days for a crime he almost certainly did not commit. By white people. White people who hated black people:

“It took less than a day for a jury to convict George Stinney Jr. and send him to the electric chair,” NPR’S Hansi Lo Wang reports. “He was convicted of the deaths of 11-year-old Betty June Binnicker and 7-year-old Mary Emma Thames in deeply segregated Alcolu, S.C.”

Matt Burgess, an attorney for the Stinney family, tells Hansi, “There were no African-American people in that courthouse. It was a jury of 12 white men. Everyone in that courthouse was white.”

George Stinney Jr. was executed less than three months after the two girls were murdered. His trial lasted just one day. After the jury needed less than 10 minutes to declare him guilty, no appeals were filed on his behalf.

“His executioners noted the electric chair straps didn’t fit him, and an electrode was too big for his leg,” The State newspaper reports. The paper adds, “It took Mullen nearly four times as long to issue her ruling as it took in 1944 to go from arrest to execution.”

70 years later, in 2014, lots of black males were murdered by racist white government employees in Cleveland, Ferguson, Staten Island, and many other places across the country. The only difference? Time.

The 2014 cops didn’t even pretend to bother with courts or silly things like due process: no, they arrested, accused, tried, judged, and killed, all in a matter of minutes. Or seconds, in the Cleveland case.

Those who say we have “made progress” in terms of equality are correct. However, that progress is NOT in a good direction. It’s going backwards. Until we as a society admit that our institutions have been made into Ayn Randian, apartheid-esque, Teabagger havens for a load of Ted Nugent wannabees, things will only get worse.

Sometimes Mr. Blunt and Cranky happens upon a post that deserves sharing. Thus it is today, with this bit of awesomeness from Internet DJ Mr. Scorpio:

Today, as it just so happens, I found out that Sarah Palin is worth twelve million dollars

Marinate on that thought for a moment: As a person who all but demonstrates the intellectual dexterity of a rusty crankshaft all of the time, she has somehow accumulated twelve million dollars.

Obviously, you don’t need to be smart in order to get rich in America. That much is sure.

Now, how much of that she had before she became America’s most egregious example of poor family planning, I don’t know.

But she’s rich beyond her dreams of avarice now. Scratch that… Her dreams of avarice knows no bounds, as long as there are gaggles of willing rubes for her to grift. Hence, we see her advantage.

Basically, to get rich, all she had to do was invest in a complete lack of scruples. Let’s forget about any moral compass that she may have… It only points toward money.

Just recently, our favorite Wicked Grifter of the North indicated that she may toss her pointed hat into the political ring in some upcoming election. Now we’re talking about a person who’s too moronic to be voted dog catcher, but that’s not going to prevent her from exercising her delusions of grandeur, now is it?

Say whatever you will about this babbling, gun toting wolf murderer, she has a purpose and she has the blindingly stupid belief in herself to achieve that purpose. Personally, I’m aghast that she incoherently blundered her way into accumulating 12 million dollars. This says even less about her than it says about how many people who are walking around today who are willing to give her all of that money.

Many of these people vote, I’m sure of that. And they consistently vote wrong.

Now, I’m not worried for one second that Caribou Barbie is going to stumble into the Oval Office. If she can still operate her lucrative business model in the same way she has for the last six years, getting elected would be too expensive for her and limiting as well.

The grift is on. That’s all that matters. Whatever she does, just remember that no one ever got rich by underestimating the stupidity of the American people.

Repubs have revealed themselves to be criminals.

In a few short days, various “Republicans” have blatantly shat upon the Constitution and the rule of law. A few of the many examples:

Sarah “thank God she isn’t in office” Palin announced that she would violate American and International law by torturing terrorists:

“Well, if I were in charge, they would know that waterboarding is how we’d baptize terrorists.”

The GOP government of North Carolina informed landowners that they would make it legal for driller to violate their rights and frack under their property whether the property owner approves it or not.

A gun nut terrorized a bunch of kids and their families by showing them his weapon: the cops said that his 2nd Amendment rights trumped the rights of women and children to be safe in a public park. That is true, because “Republican” lawmakers made it possible to be a terrorist and get away with it.

Add in Craven Cliven Bundy, criminal Michael Grimm, and Arkansas’s illegal voter suppression scams, and you get the picture. Then you realize that there are hundreds of GOP illegal and unconstitutional actions every week, and you have to wonder why anyone would support such a despicable and scummy group of crooks.

Obama Recently Ordered Military Action. And We Won. You Never Heard About it, Did You?

Yes, that “weak”, “indecisive”, “mom-jeans-wearing” President of ours just ordered a military strike against Middle-Eastern terrorists.  They kicked some Libyan Rebel butt. You’ll notice this went down a week or so ago, when the airwaves were filled with Foxish, Rushish, Rightish bashing-on-the-wimpy-black-Prexy noise; small wonder that this story got minimal coverage. But contrary to the prevailing “wisdom”, our Prexy saw a threat to Libya’s democratically-elected government and ordered a military strike to save said government. Oh, and that is the same Libyan government that “Republicans” accuse Obama of being such a little nancy-boy about (hint: “Benghazi”).

So why didn’t you hear about this? A simple reason: the “news” media is largely controlled by people who hates them some Obama: http://www.businessinsider.com/these-6-corporations-control-90-of-the-media-in-america-2012-6  So, if you heard about this at all, it was a few plaudits to to the SEALS who carried out the attack. In fact, they deserved a lot more and better coverage, as did the rest of the command and control apparatus. And yes, that includes the President, no matter what that great military expert Sarah Palin may have to say about it.

This writer mistrusts the corporate media, so he listens to it, and then checks a load of other sources, including foreign media outlets, and even some of the fringe whacko sites here in the USA. Nothing goes onto this blog without being subjected to the crankiest of analyses: it’s a pity that, say, Fox “News” can’t take the time to do the same.

So, please, Gentle Reader, take a few minutes and stroll around the InterTubes, to see what is going on. That is to say, what ELSE is going on that the bean-counters and Raging Righties in their Tightie Whities don’t want you to know. Today’s example: despite the lies that are being spewed, President Obama is capable of ordering swift, decisive military action (like he also did when he caught Bin Laden).

Good one, Mr. President. Way to give the terrorist scumbuckets one in the eye. Even if (or especially if) hardly anyone gives you credit for it.

This is a picture of serial quitter Sarah Palin and a bear she allegedly shot. Take a quick look at the image, all you gun-literate readers, and tell us what you see:

Yep. The straw-for-brains dimwit has the barrel pointing right at her own fool head.

We already knew her to know from nothing about governing, fiscal policy, law, ethics, or how far Russia is from her breakfast nook. Now we can all see that she doesn’t even know from basic gun safety.

Sore Losers: Teapublicans

Here’s a picture of the recent rally at the White House:, showing that there are lots of sore losers in America. In this one picture, we see Teabaggers (who lost in 2012, big time), Confederates (who lost the Civil War, big time) and “Republicans”(who lost in 2012, big time). None of these people can comprehend the fact that they got their heads handed to them on  a platter. All of them are convinced that they should have won, and none of them understand that they did not.

And who “led” this motley assembly that was supposed to represent our veterans? Who was in charge of a load of yahoos waving Confederate Flags at a black man in the White House? Why, two teabgging politicos (Sarah Palin and Ted Cruz),  and a child-molesting nutjob (Larry Klayman), none of whom ever served in combat.

News flash: The South lost the Civil War. Teabaggers lost the last few elections. Republicans lost the last few elections. All the sore losers need to accept reality and move on. Instead of threatening the life of the President and trying to overthrow the government.
