Let’s call some spades, here, OK? Social Security is INSURANCE for which we are forced to pay premiums. Some of us have paid for this insurance for decades and have the right to expect that the seller will deliver the product we had no choice but to purchase. Sounds simple, yes? We pay, we should get what we pay for, like any other insurance (car, home, life) product.

But not according to “Republicans”: they are out to breach our contract and steal our money:

As one of its first orders of business upon convening Tuesday, the Republican House of Representatives approved a rule that will seriously undermine efforts to keep all of Social Security solvent.

The rule hampers an otherwise routine reallocation of Social Security payroll tax income from the old-age program to the disability program. Such a reallocation, in either direction, has taken place 11 times since 1968, according to Kathy Ruffing of the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities.

The most cynical aspect of this attack is that it comes from some lawmakers who were helped by Social Security in their own lives. The roster includes Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.), who received Social Security benefits during his college years, after his father’s untimely death, and now thinks that the nation can’t afford to keep paying them as currently scheduled.

Another is Rep. Tom Reed (R-N.Y.), the sponsor of the House rules change, whose father died when he was 2 and then was raised by a single mother on Social Security and veterans benefits. Now he talks about Social Security going “bankrupt,” which is flatly incorrect, and promotes a measure aimed at cutting benefits for all. This is known as climbing the ladder and pulling it up behind you.

Got it, folks? The Teapubbies are doing exactly what they said they would do if elected. They are out to wreck Social Security, pocket our premiums, and throw anyone who is retired or disabled onto the streets instead of giving you the insurance benefits you paid for.

F*** those people. And if you voted for a “Republican”, f*** you too.

Mr. Blunt and Cranky

Really, people, come on. A party full of corrupt, seditious, hypocritical, mendacious motherf***ers was given expanded power by America’s Idiot Electorate, and they are doing just what they promised to do. In the first day or so of “Republican” control, they have:

Number A, elected a KKK-loving white supremacist to a senior leadership position;

Letter 2, tried to destroy a vital part of Social Security,

Thirdly, tried to once again violate the Constitution’s separation of powers by pushing foward to a vote “approving” the Keystone XL pipeline.

And that was in a matter of hours, with lots more to come. Nobody should be surprised: all of these things (secessionism, classism, racism, corruption and greed) have been core GOPee values for decades now. They said, over and over, that they would gut the social security system, throw the environment in the crapper, oppress people of color, and steal our money to give to their 1% cronies. Now they are fulfilling their promises.

America, you knew this would happen, and most of you either helped it happen, or sat back and let it happen. Unless you, personally, were either: not allowed to vote; or voted so as to defeat each and every Teapubbie in each and every race when last you cast a ballot, it’s partly your f*** ing fault.

We are all about to suffer because many Americans are: stupid; evil: lazy; or some combination of the three. Just don’t try to convince this writer that you are shocked. You’re not. We all knew what it would mean if the Repubs took control, and now they have control.

We’re all about to be f***ed. They told us they would f*** us, and they are now dropping trou and bending the lot of us over their desks. Surprising? Not at all.

Mr. Blunt and Cranky

If Uncle Sam paid back the trillions of dollars he’s “borrowed” from Social Security, , and stopped stealing from it in the future, the fund would be solvent for many years to come. That’s it. No drama, no hostages, just doing things the way we were supposed to do it in the first place.

Simple. Easy. Legal. Let’s do it.

Mr. Blunt and Cranky.

Once upon a time, Mr. Blunt and Cranky was contracted to play a session in Santa Monica for a singer-songwriter –  3 hours, 3 songs, $120.00. Not great pay,  but a man’s gotta eat.

As it turns out, the “artist” stiffed the studio cats (including your humble correspondent). He then had the brass to ask us all to play again , promising he’d pay  us this time. A few of the players were fool enough to trust him a second time, and (surprise, surprise) got shafted again. No one had much sympathy for them, of course: when you do business with a contract-breaker, what do you expect?

Since the middle of the last century, Americans have been paying their insurance premiums for a variety of programs; these are also contracts. Contracts for retirement income, health care, crop insurance, disaster insurance, and so on. Said premiums paid to the U.S. Government, with or without the consent of the payers.

Today, the Vice Presidential Nominee of the “Republican” Party wants to break a number of those contracts. All on his own, without your consent. Medicare, Social Security, Unemployment insurance, Agricultural insurance, a whole laundry list of products for which you have been paying, all to be sliced, diced, or done away with completely. You keep paying, but the government stops delivering.

This writer has been paying his taxes and premiums since 1974, and as any party to a business deal, has the right to expect that the other party will obey the law and uphold their end of the bargain. But with Washington, D.C. (and some States as well)under the effective control of a party that does not believe in honor, the rule of law, or of even honoring a contract that has been in force for decades, he is more than a bit concerned that Ryan, Boehner, McConnell and Co. will do as they say, and rip up the contract. Thereby stealing 38 years’ worth of his hard-earned money paid to those crooks.

Let’s be clear: People who break contracts are criminals. Crooks. Thieves. Liars. Scumbuckets. And like that coke-headed artist of yore, the “Republican” party has announced its intention to steal your money and give you little or nothing in return.

If you vote “Republican”, you are enabling this pattern of criminal behavior. Don’t come crying to the rest of us when you find out you’ve been robbed, because when you do business with a contract-breaker, what do you expect?

MR. B & C

A while back, Mister Blunt and Cranky wrote a post about paying attention to the pronouncements of Leaders: https://bluntandcranky.wordpress.com/2012/04/18/they-tell-us-what-they-will-do-but-we-dont-believe-them/

Take a minute and read it: take your time, no rush, this post will be waiting when you return…OK, welcome back. As the post said, when politicos say they are gonna do stuff, they frequently do unto us exactly what they said they would. And now is a very good time to pay attention to what the party candidates are saying (we will ignore Obama in this post, because we have all been listening to his spiel for 5 or 6 years now and have it pretty much  down), because what they say now is what they will do if elected.

Willie Romney has picked a far-right ideologue to be his Veep: One Paul Ryan,  beloved of tea partiers and the bane of many others. A few peeps are surprised , but not the Crankster: Romney has been talking far-right smack for a good long while now:

“My view is that marriage is a relationship between a man and a woman. That’s the position I’ve had for some time, and I don’t intend to make any adjustments at this point… Or ever, by the way.”

“Through pro-growth policies, by abolishing Obamacare and eliminating other Obama-imposed impediments to economic growth, we will get our economy back on track.”

“Of course you get rid of Obamacare, that’s the easy one, but there are others,” he said. “Planned Parenthood, we’re going to get rid of that.”

And Paul Ryan has a fair few choice quotes to which one might pay a wee bit of attention; here’s a really scary one:

“The reason I got involved in public service, by and large, if I had to credit one thinker, one person, it would be Ayn Rand.”

And so on. Listen to what they are saying, and look at what they have proposed: Tax cuts for the rich, paid for with cuts to things like roads, bridges, schools, and screwing us out of the Social Security and Medicare benefits that we have all been paying for over the decades. They will take away the good bits of Obamacare and deregulate the insurance companies.  They will outlaw birth control and make choice illegal. They will also deregulate banks, oil companies, and anyone else who has a few million bucks to stuff in their pockets. More money will flow to their bank accounts and less will remain in yours.

This is what Romney and Ryan have said they’ll do. They will do it. If you vote for them, you’d better want them to take away your money and  protection and services you have paid for, because that is what is gonna happen.

Yes, they really mean it. No, they are not kidding.
