A short blurb in the Columbus Dispatch raises the possibility. Here’s the part that makes this writer nervous:

“Dan Tierney, a spokesman for the Ohio attorney general, said the panel adjourned on Wednesday in Steubenville and will reconvene at a later date.

A key issue before the grand jury is whether adults who are required to report crimes knew early on about the rape last August but didn’t say anything.”

Past releases have spoken about the need for more investigation, or have given a return date. This one does neither. Instead, it sounds like a note that a deliberating jury sends out to a judge, a day or so before returning with an acquittal.

This is the sort of press release that gives people the screaming cheetah wheelies. Here’s hoping justice is done in the end, but it ain’t looking good right now.

Mr. Blunt and Cranky

Slow and steady. And quiet, no leaks. Here’s hoping they bust a lot of rape freaks.

For those of you who don’t know why this is a big deal, click here for the back story.

Mr. Blunt and Cranky

“Fresh off another very long break, The Steubenville Grand Jury was back in session yesteray in a marathon session that lasted until 10 PM last night. The grand jury resumed hearing evidence this morning at 9 am, and after today’s session, the grand jury will break again until July 22nd according to court officials. Court officials also expect the GJ will wrap between July 22 and the 26th.”

On edit – they will not wrap up until August, per the AG’s office.

Sounds like they are doing their job. Good on them! Here’s hoping some scumbuckets wind up behind bars.

Mr. Blunt and Cranky

P.S. Home after the invasive trans-vascular probe experience, typing slowly. Thanks to everyone for the good wishes.

At least, that’s this writer’s theory du jour: if people commit a crime and get punished, well then, society is showing that crime is unacceptable. Conversely, if people commit a crime and get little or no punishment, well, society is showing that it doesn’t really care much about that crime.

An example (one of many): a high-school kid was raped and then blamed for being raped. Yep, kinda like Steubenville, Torrington, or one of the hundreds of other cities where this type of behavior goes on. In Norwood, Colorado, a kid was assaulted, bound, and raped by his team mates, who then bragged about it.

The perps got slapped on the wrists, while the victim and his family were hounded out of town. The criminals were supported, and their victims were punished. People in Norwood made Steubenville and Torrington look downright enlightened by comparison:

“After the arrests, Jessica Bicknase, identified in a police report as the mother of one of the accused, paid to print t-shirts that bore a slogan using the initials of the suspects. Bicknase declined to comment.

A dozen students wore the t-shirts to school one Friday, and someone posted a sign with the same wording on the locker of the victim’s brother, according to the police report, which was reviewed by Bloomberg. Students who wore the t-shirts told police they wanted to support their friends. The victim told investigators he didn’t understand why his friends would support people who attacked him”

And

While the 7th-grade victim didn’t require medical attention after the attack, he soon found himself repeatedly teased by students.

“They would say, ‘What’s been stuck up your butt today?”’ said his mother. “Things were posted on Facebook, like ‘Rot in hell, liar!”’

This is happening all across America: kids get raped, and our “justice system” either sides with the rapists, or winks at them while it pretends to mete out punishment. Time after time it happens, and we say, “my town is different”. The sad reality is that your town most likely is not different. Nor is the town this writer lives in. No, America loves them some rapists, and hates them some rape victims. Everyone decries it, but it keeps happening. All across the country.

S***, even Serena Williams laid out some rapist-loving, victim-blaming bulls*** this week. She thought that the poor iddy biddy wapists in Steubenville got treated too harshly, and blamed the girl they raped: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/06/18/serena-williams-steubenville-rape-victim_n_3462519.html Really? What an asshole is Serena. Would to God that she were an exception, but she’s more likely the rule.

This writer suggests we do at least one thing like they do it in China: China executes official for child rapes. Yes, they just put a guy to death for being a serial child rapist. That may seem draconian, but China is at least sending a clear message: Rape is Bad. How crazy is the world when a human-rights cesspool like Red China has its criminal justice s** together then does the USA?

If we really laid out some punishments: castration, execution, life at hard labor, something commensurate with the crime, maybe these sick f***s would less likely to commit sex crimes. And maybe if the perps are punished, America will be less supportive of rapists. And maybe, just maybe, less hateful to the victims of these horrible crimes.

Because America, sad to say, needs to be taught that rape is a bad thing. Christ in a pickle jar, what a sick and twisted load of jackasses we are here.

Mr. Blunt and Cranky

Once again, this country makes you want to puke. a 17-year old serial rapist and convicted child molester is walking free pending his sentencing for three counts of sexually assaulting little girls, and the city in which he committed these heinous crimes is abusing the victims.

One victim, who was 13 at the time of the crime, became pregnant as a result of the rape. She has been vilified and threatened, her home has been vandalized, and she is about to give birth to a baby her stinking rapist forcibly implanted into her. One more time, people: not only does this child have psychological trauma to deal with, but she also has a living reminder of the vicious crime perpetrated on her staring up at her 24/7.
The victim is being made to bear the consequences of a crime committed against her while the convicted criminal who raped her walks free, perhaps raping other little girls while you read this. He will be sentenced within the week, perhaps to probation so that he can keep on sexually abusing children.

And what does the town of Elwood Indiana do about this horrific situation? Why, they support the stinking pervert sex offender and abuse his child victims, that’s what they do:

“A former self-proclaimed “social bug” — she was a cheerleader and athlete — the young victim has become reclusive since learning she was pregnant.

“I can’t walk out the door without someone calling me a whore or slut,” the girl said. “I used to have a lot of friends, or people I thought were my friends, but as soon as this happened I just isolated myself.”

The repeated vandalism incidents at the family’s home — including the words “whore” and “slut” scrawled on the garage doors — were reported to police. But Green said no charges were filed because there were no witnesses to the acts.

Her daughter also has been the target of mean-spirited rumors and speculation that her pregnancy is the result of promiscuous behavior.”

This blogger is fed up with all these stinking little s***hole towns: Steubenville, Torrington, Elwood, and the rest of them. They are a load of sanctimonious, hypocritical, slut-shaming, victim-blaming rapist-loving assholes, and this writer wishes he had the time and resources to travel the country looking for these serial-rapist worshipping jackasses so as to be able to barf on each and every one of them.

But that is better than these rape cheerleaders deserve anyway. What the citizens of Elwood et.al. deserve is to be on the receiving end of the hateful s*** they spew at the innocent children who have been raped twice: first by the sex offender who raped their bodies, and then by the townsfolk who gleefully rape their minds and souls afterwards. Let them taste their own s*** and see how they like it.

Mr. Blunt and Cranky

They are slow, but they are sure. The grand jury investigation of the rest of Steubenville’s involvement in the now-infamous rape case met for two days this week and then recessed, after telling investigators to go get them more information.

The state is also scoping out seized computers and other such evidentiary materials, and ain’t rushing that process along.

Hopefully, this will scare certain “adults” who enabled the rape, and those that tried to cover it all up afterward. Hopefully.

Mr. Blunt and Cranky

Yes, that’s right. Two rapists are currently doing time, thanks to Alexandra Goddard, Anonymous, and the Ohio Attorney General’s Office (no thanks to the corrupt, rape-loving locals who tried to cover it all up). Now two big-mouthed, small-brained, rape-supporting teenaged girls have been sentenced to six months’ probation for threatening the victim with death and bodily harm: http://www.newsnet5.com/dpp/news/local_news/two-teen-girls-plead-guilty-in-steubenville-rape-twitter-threat-case

So the message to these mouth-breathing fools? It does not matter where or how you threaten to commit a violent crime, those threats are still crimes. And now, the two teenaged twerps are convicted criminals. (Or “adjudicated”, depending on the exact ruling.) Criminals with criminal records. Not “loyal girlfriends/relatives standing up for their loved ones”; no, these little snots are criminals, with criminal records.

In addition, the Grand Jury and associated investigators are  still working on whom else to charge, and with what crimes. All in all, it is progress.

Here’s hoping the lawfully constituted authorities keep up the good work: and if they slack off, here’s hoping the hacktivist community jumps their s*** and forces them to get back on the stick.

Mr. Blunt and Cranky

It’s on like donkey kong in Steubenville, where the Grand Jury investigation just completed Day One of its work. And insofar as one can tell, they are picking up rocks aplenty to find the slime beneath.

Investigators have searched public and private buildings, interviewed multiple individuals (like the useless “parents” who own the house in which Jane Doe was gang-raped), and generally scaring the Hell out of lots of people who deserve to be terrified. Here’s a snippet from the above link (we recommend you click and read):
“Investigators searched Steubenville High School and the local school board offices Thursday.
Investigators also searched Vestige Digital Investigations, a digital forensics storage company in Medina, in Northeast Ohio. The company’s connection to the case was unclear, and it denies it’s the subject of a criminal investigation.
The owners of a home where a photo was taken of the Weirton, W.Va., girl being carried by the two boys later convicted of raping her also have been interviewed by investigators.
DeWine says nothing is off the table for the grand jury, which he announced within hours of the guilty verdict March 17.”

Here’s hoping that the rest of those responsible for the horrific crimes committed in that town wind up doing time along with the smug little s***s who were rightfully convicted a while back. We’ll see what the Grand Jury comes up with.

At the very least, it’s more than has been done in Torrington and Nova Scotia.

Mr. Blunt and Cranky

How many times do we have to see this s*** happen before America gets off its ass and demands action? http://news.yahoo.com/3-charged-sexual-abuse-case-previously-cited-213559551.html  A girl was raped by three of her classmates. After raping her body, they took to social media to rape her reputation. The cops kinda sorta did a half-assed “investigation”, and the girl killed herself. And there it sat until the media made the cops look like the bumbling, sexist fools that they were. And suddenly, the cops “found” the evidence required to charge the perps with more serious crimes.

Time and again, across the nation and around the world, local officials smirk and wink at rape. Time and again, they get caught. And time and again, they do too little, too late. Why the repetition, why the failure to learn?

Short answer: there are no consequences for their willful incompetence. The cops get a brief period of time in the harsh glare of the media, but they go away soon enough. And the cops shrug their shoulders, smirk some more, and go back to their tacit encouragement of rape and other violent sex crimes. Why should they change?

Look at Steubenville, Torrington, Nova Scotia, and any other such case you care to look at. Have any of the local officials who failed so miserably lost their jobs, been fined, or called to account in any way? No. They do a rotten job and it does not matter. They can allow rape to happen and pay no price for their pro-criminal activities.

And the hell of it is, most police departments actually do a good job in this area. But they don’t get any credit for it, because the incompetent few make the rest look bad. And the good cops and bad cops get the same treatment, regardless of how good or bad a job they do. Every parent knows: if you don’t teach your kids about consequences, your kids won’t learn to do the right thing. Same with adults.

A modest proposal: it’s time we put any and all failed local officials up on trial as accomplices to rape, whenever they fail to protect and serve the victims of sex crimes. Imagine if, for example, Sheriff Fred Abdalla of Steubenville had to register as a sex offender. Do you think that would get the attention of the pro-rape cops around America? You bet it would.

If they don’t and won’t care about the women they are supposed to protect, they’ll at least start caring about keeping their own fat, pimply butts out of jail.

Mr. Blunt and Cranky

P.S.: The family is suing the three little pigs who raped and bullied their daughter to death: http://www.mercurynews.com/breaking-news/ci_23028108/lawsuit-planned-over-assaulted-calif-teen-suicide But they aren’t suing the worthless locals who took EIGHT F***ING MONTHS to arrest the perps. They really should be suing the cops, too, just to put the fear of God into those stinking rapist-loving perverts.

In America, far too many rapists are not made to pay for their crimes, and so they go merrily raping along, while their victims’ cases are marginalized, deprioritized, or just plain ignored by the local law enforcement agencies who are supposed to “protect and serve” them. Sometimes this happens because of incompetence, sometimes it’s corruption or ignorance, and sometimes it’s because the cops secretly think that women are to blame for being raped. Regardless of the cause, it’s a shameful fact that Rape Culture in America is alive and well, and enabled in part by the cops, prosecutors and judges who fail their communities on a daily basis.

Enter Anonymous, stage left. When a vicious gang rape was committed upon a teenager in Steubenville, Ohio, local law enforcement at first did nothing at all. Then a local blogger started making some noise and the cops kinda sorta started working a little bit. Then Anonymous got righteously pissed off, and proceeded to publish all sorts of information about the case. Two little s***s were convicted and are now doing time, no thanks to the locals. And thanks to Anonymous.

In Torrington, CT, a 13-year old girl was sexually assaulted by multiple males, some of them adults.. The cops again did bupkis, at least at first. Then a local blogger and Anonymous started making noise about the case, and they started to do their jobs, because they did not want to look like Steubenville. Four sexual predators are facing trial, thanks to local officials and Anonymous.

In Nova Scotia, a teenaged girl was gang-raped, blamed, and hanged herself after the cops did nothing. Again, Anonymous told the locals they would open a can of whoop-ass if they didn’t step up. Just like in Steubenville, the RCMP blew them off, and Anonymous opened the promised cans of whoop-ass. Surprise, surprise, the locals have re-opened the case, all the while complaining about vigilantes

News Flash: the reason vigilantes are acting is because, and only because, the duly constituted authorities have failed the citizens they are sworn to protect and serve. For years, the cops have been able to selectively protect women from violent crimes, at the discretion of the locals, because local culture pretty much decided how to deal with sexual assaults, domestic violence and suchlike. If the locality was a hotbed of rape culture, the victims were denied justice: if the area’s mores were based on the rule of law, the guilty were prosecuted.

Not anymore, says Anonymous (and a growing number of people around the world). No one should have to play dice with their safety, their lives, and their rights, depending on where they live and the attitudes of the local constabulary. If law enforcement won’t, you know, enforce the law, then we need the hacktivists to hold their feet to the fire until they do their jobs.

Here’s a reluctant toast, then, to the vigilantes at Anonymous. And here’s hoping that our public servants get the message, so that we no longer need Anonymous to protect us.

Mr. Blunt and Cranky.
