http://5newsonline.com/2013/04/20/scathing-gop-letter-promises-to-unseat-republican-lawmakers/  is a link to a follow-up story regarding yesterday’s news about a Benton County Republican  who suggested people have the right  to assassinate elected officials who vote in a manner that upsets them. Not surprisingly, the cops were called in to investigate such statements. Also not surprisingly, the cops took no action.

Even less surprisingly, the webpage that hosted the rant has been taken down, the assassin advocate and his wife were run out of the party on a rail, and the remaining GOP leaders have issued pious denunciations of Mr. Nogy’s call to arms.

And at the ultimate level of un-surprisingness, Mr. Nogy did one of the most epic non-apologies that this writer has seen in a good long while. The above link has the details, but here are a few important excerpts.

“This is not a retraction, this is a clarification. I believe everything I said in my earlier newsletter editorial.”  “And in this age of death threats from nameless, faceless thugs, we need these folks to know that while we most likely won’t try to kill them or harm their families, they should be much more certain of our response than fearful of the actions of those who will not identify themselves.
I believe that in a world of nameless, faceless thugs influencing our people every day, it is imperative that we become thugs with names and faces just as scary even if in a different way. If we don’t, then we lose.”

Oh, and the nimrod also said that the letter was not intended for a wider audience than local Republicans. “There is no reason that this should’ve gone public,” he said. Uhmmmm..they call it the World Wide Web for a reason, dips***. Worldwide is just about as public as it gets…so what he’s saying is “I got caught because I don’t understand the Internets. But I was right, and I’m only sorry you found about my extremist, pro-assassination views”.
