This is why the grand jury was needed. Steubenville, as a town, tried its best to deny and cover up its predilection for sex crimes, and got busted by a blogger and a posse of hackers. Two of the perps thereafter got jailed, but those who engaged in the cover-up initially escaped punishment.

Today’s scumbucket rape-enabler is the 20-year old daughter of the school employee who was indicted recently. From the article:

Hannah Rhinaman, 20, was indicted on two counts of receiving stolen property and one count of grand theft, Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine said in a statement.
The charges occurred when she was an employee of Steubenville City Schools. However, the charges are separate and unrelated to the previous indictment issued against her father, William Rhinaman, on October 7.

As everyone who lived through the Watergate era remembers, it’s the cover-up that gets you. Nixon would have gotten off with a wrist-slap if he had not tried to cover up the crimes committed on his behalf, and those who committed crimes while attempting to cover up Nixon’s dirty tricks and third-rate burglary. So it is here.

The really scary bit is that none of these people expected to get caught. Rape is common and infrequently reported in Steubenville (and elsewhere), and all too often gets swept under the rug. But for an Alexandra Goddard and Anonymous, that would have happened once again.

So, we have two indictments of rape-enabling, woman-hating, law-breaking a**holes in Steubenville. That alone is a sign that things are changing. And thank God and the Internet that it is so.
