And about damned time, too. In an interview with Vice News, the Prexy drops a truth bomb (no drones used) on Repubs and the American “news” media:

President Barack Obama traced the origins of Islamic State militants back to the presidency of George W. Bush and the invasion of Iraq back in 2003, arguing that its growth was an “unintended consequence” of the war.

In an interview with Vice News, President Obama said the rise of Islamic State (IS, also known as ISIS/ISIL) can be directly linked to America’s excursion into Iraq under Bush.

“Two things: One is, ISIL is a direct outgrowth of Al-Qaeda in Iraq that grew out of our invasion,” Obama said in an interview with VICE News. “Which is an example of unintended consequences. Which is why we should generally aim before we shoot.”

He’s right, you know. There were no “Islamic” terrorist groups in Iraq before the Bushistas lied us into war there in the early Oughts. None. Zip. Nada. They moved in during the chaos that followed Shrubya’s Eodipal Invasion.

And that means, Gentle Reader, that America is at least partly responsible for Daesch. Most of us aren’t happy about that. Most of us are smart enough to not want another war.

But some people are either stupid or corrupt (or both) enough to be banging the drums for yet another war of choice. People like Tehran Tom the Traitor Tot, who is lining his pockets with arms industry money whilst fomenting conflicts in the Middle East.

It isn’t comfortable to hear the President remind us of our nation’s historical errors. But as long as the Teapublicans push us towards war to make good on the bribes they take from the MIC, such reminders will remain necessary.
